Bei dieser Galvanisierungsmethode werden Sauerstoffionen durch Glimmentladung in einem Vakuum auf ein Zielmaterial geschossen. Die positiven Ionen im Plasma beschleunigen sich in Richtung des Zielmaterials, wodurch dieses austritt und sich auf der Oberfläche des zu beschichtenden Objekts ablagert.
Hochwertige Vakuumgalvanisierung kann die Farbbeständigkeit von Schmuck effektiv verlängern, was zu einer doppelt so langen Farbbeständigkeit wie bei einer normalen Vergoldung führt.
